NFA organises top level coaching course

LOCAL football coaches will be back at school to upgrade their skills at a high level coaching course which takes place in Windhoek from July 23 to 28.

The course is organised by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) in conjunction with the Namibia Football Coaches Association (NAFCA) and will be conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

According to the vice chairman of NAFCA, Lucky Richter, the course will focus on the education of regional coaches and especially those coaches who took part in the recent The Namibian Newspaper Cup.

The course will also cater for coaches with lower qualifications and unqualified Premier League coaches.

Thirty coaches are expected to participate in the course including senior coaches and former Brave Warriors coaches like Richter himself, Rusten Mogane, Seth Boois, Brian Isaacs and Dawid Snewe.

The idea of senior coaches attending, according to Richter was to judge the level of the course, especially the content, so that they could later assist local coaches and send other coaches from youth development and club teams on similar courses at a later stage.

Richter added that the idea for the course was to bring all coaches in all regions to one level and the participants will be awarded with a certificate of high level coaching at the end of the day.

CAF is the main sponsor of the event and the course instructor will be Ghanaian coach Charles Ghynwa, who led his country's youth team to the World Youth Championship finals.

It is the second time that local coaches will be participating at such a high level course, although they also participated in several intermediate and basic courses in the past, according to Richter.

The venue of the course will be the Gammams Training Centre in the capital, and registration for the notified coaches will take place on July 22 at 14h00 at the centre.

Accommodation will be provided for non-Windhoek based coaches.

The annual general meeting of NAFCA will take place on August 4 in Windhoek at which the new management committee will be selected and the code of conduct as well as the constitution of NAFCA will be discussed.
