Local Sport Shorts -MTC Wanderers squash league

ROAD Signs beat Nashua 10-8 and Supertronix beat Securitas 14-6 in A league matches of the Wanderers squash business league competition last week.

In B league matches Nampower beat Simply Shoes II 9-7; Agronauts beat B W Select 10-6; Simply Shoes I beat FNB 12-5 and Bank Windhoek Value Added beat Namibia Breweries 11-4.

Nashua is leading the A league with 93 points, followed by Supertonix on 91; Road Signs on 66 and Securitas on 50.

bank Windhoek Select is leading the B league with 90 points, followed by Simply Shoes I on 86, Simply Shoes II on 85 and Nampower on 83 points.

Pool shoot-out

THE first round of the Black Label Pool Shootout competition takes place at Tusitala in Khomasdal on Saturday, July 21.

There will be three shootout rounds before the final shootout.

The prize money at the final shootout is N$20 000 for the winner; N$10 000 for the runner-up; N$5 000 for third place and N$2 500 for fourth place.

Calling soccer coachesALL aspirant coaches, licensed coaches and unlicensed coaches from Namibia's 13 regions are invited to attend the annual general meeting of the Namibia Football Coaches Association (NAFCA) in Windhoek on August 4.

The regional coaching representatives are also reminded of the upcoming high-level coaching courses on July 23 - 28 in Windhoek.

Registration for the courses take place at 14h00 on Sunday, July 22 at Gammams.

Hockey league resultsDTS beat Windhoek Old Boys 2-1 in a men's Premier League hockey match last weekend.

In the women's Premier League Unam beat Wanderers 2-0 and Ramblers beat DTS 1-0.

In a women's first league match DTS II beat Unam II 1-0.

Pepsi Cup final

THE junior and senior finals of the Pepsi Challenge Cup take place at the Mariental Sport Complex on Saturday, July 21.

In the first junior semi-final at 08h00 P I Groenewaldt play Anna Maasdorp and at 09h30 Rooiduin play Empelheim.

The junior final will start at 13h00 while the senior final between Mariental High School and C//Oaseb starts at 11h00.

Kids duathlon for Windhoek

THE annual National Duathlon Championships for children will take place in Windhoek on Saturday, July 28.

The Iron Kids Duathlon, as it is known, is organised by TriSports Windhoek and sponsored by the Namibia Triathlon Federation in conjunction with Cymot hardware store, for children from any age up to 12 years old.

The competition is divided into three categories for children under eight years of age, under 10 years and under 12s.

About 30 children are expected to enter for the run and cycle event will start and finish at Cymot hardware store in the northern industrial area.

The duathlon consists of a 400 metre run, one kilometre cycle and a 400 metre run for the under eights.

The under 10 and under 12s are expected to do a 600 metre run, two kilometre cycle and 600 metre run. - Own reporter, Nampa
