Local Sport Shorts - Under 19s out of Gothia Cup

NAMIBIA's Under-19 soccer team crashed out of the Gothia Cup on Thursday after losing 2-0 in the semi-finals to home team, Floruda FC.

Namibia went through to the semi-finals after beating FK Varpa of Latvia by four goals to nil.

Prior to the Gothia Cup, the Namibian side competed in the Tivoli Cup in Denmark and lost by three goals to nil against Ghana in the final.

The team is expected back in Namibia today.

Fredericks comes fifth

FRANK Fredericks came fifth in the 200m at the British Grand Prix athletics meeting on Sunday.

Fredericks finished in a time of 20,67 seconds, while Dwain Chambers won in a time of 20,31 seconds, ahead of Christian Malcolm and Kevin Little.

Calling Khomas clubs

ALL soccer clubs affiliated to the Khomas Second Division must attend a meeting at 18h00 tomorrow at the Goreangab Junior Secondary School in Katutura.

Members from the following clubs must attend the meeting:African Blizzards, African Wizards, Africa Rassap, Arcadia, Bombani, Charlo XI, Eleven Stars, Falcon, Rambo Rangers, Windhoek Prison, Unam, Terrible Fire, Young Lions, Zambezi United.
