Nagamootoo takes four as Zimbabwe crumble

ADELAIDE - Leg-break bowler Mahendra Nagamootoo took a career-best 4-32 off 7,2 overs to help West Indies to a morale-boosting 77-run win over Zimbabwe in their limited overs match yesterday.

Zimbabwe, who needed 253 to win, were all out for 175 in 40,2 overs.

It was only West Indies' second victory from six matches in the triangular series, in which Australia are undefeated in four.

Zimbabwe have one victory from four appearances.

Man of the match Marlon Samuels, 19, made 68 for West Indies in their total of 235-6 in 47 overs batting first before their innings was cut short by three overs because of rain.

Under the Duckworth/Lewis system, Zimbabwe were given a revised target of 253 to win in 47 overs.

Andy Flower (50) and Grant Flower (41) shared a fourth-wicket stand of 90 before both were out within the space of 12 runs.

Nagamootoo took the vital wicket of Andy Flower with a diving one-handed catch off his own bowling.

Earlier, Brian Lara made 70 off 96 balls (three fours, one six), adding 133 for the third wicket with Samuels (six fours, one six, 98 balls).

Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak gave another spirited performance, taking 3-27.

But when the all-rounder was leg before wicket to Nagamootoo for three in Zimbabwe's 36th over, it was part of a massive late-order collapse.

Zimbabwe lost their last seven wickets for 38, starting with the two Flowers at 137-4 and 149-5.
