Milosevic probe to start soon

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic said yesterday that an investigation of ousted Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic could start in "a matter of days".

"As you see from the newspapers and the documents in the newspapers there are enough reasons to start investigative proceedings against him," Djindjic told Reuters after a news conference."

"And then it depends on the investigative judge what measures he will take - prison, just a hearing, or starting with a criminal case.

So it's a matter for the legal institutions, it's not a matter for the government," he added.

Asked if it was a question of months, or weeks, Djindjic said: "It's a matter of days."
