Stone crushes two Rosh Pinah workers

TWO mineworkers at the Rosh Pinah Zinc Mine in the Karas region died on Wednesday after a huge rock fell on them.

Manager of the mine, Wim Diedericks, told The Namibian the two men were using a truck to remove rocks in the underground mine.

A huge rock fell on them while they were loading rocks into the truck."

"What exactly happened, we don't know yet and the Inspector from the Ministry of Mines and Energy is here investigating the incident."

" Diedericks said.

The Namibian has learnt that the two men who died are Michael Katjire (39) and Samwel Rufino (41), both from the Kavango region.

A source told The Namibian that Rufino had only started working on the mine last Monday and was a trainee.
