Monday, February 26, 2001 - Web posted at 6:12:16 AM GMT Villagers attack woman AT least six villagers are expected to appear in the Eenhana Magistrate's Court today accused of seriously beating up a woman from Ohaihana village in the Ohangwena region. The suspects had accused Susana Kamati of allegedly causing problems in the village and of aiding criminals who steal livestock. Kamati apparently received a letter from another villager, believed to be the local headman, last week telling her to pack her things and go because of her alleged "anti-social behaviour". A local human rights activist, Sakaria Nghiwete Ndjoba, said that after Kamati refused to leave the village she was attacked by locals. The Police were called and found the woman lying on the ground having been seriously assaulted. She was taken for treatment to Eenhana Hospital . |
