Shebeen care taker assaulted

THE caretaker of a shebeen at Havana in Wanaheda, Katutura, was seriously assaulted by an armed man at about 02h00 on Tuesday.

Jafet Nujoma (28) and the three other occupants of the shebeen were asleep when an unknown men managed to force his way into the shebeen and beat up Nujoma.

Sergeant James Matengu told The Namibian yesterday that intruder used his fists to attack Nujoma and also kicked him.

Nujoma had to be treated at the Katutura State Hospital.

The Wanaheda Police are investigating a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The suspect is still at large.

* Police have opened an inquest docket after a 28-year-old woman at Otjiwarongo's Orwetoveni township committed suicide on Wednesday.

Ndamonahendha Nghidinwa hanged herself in her bedroom, using a piece of sheet from her bed.

She did not leave a note.
